How should I use Synonyms?

Important

Without synonyms, the search results in similar keywords for both singular and plural forms of the search keyword however, for synonyms, please note that both singular and plural forms of the search keywords must be entered explicitly. More information here Do I need to include the plural terms within synonym entries?

When adding a Synonym, you'll see a multi-way option:

When multi-way is set to "ON," this allows for multiple keywords to return similar results.

With the following Synonym in place, Hawk will return similar results when searching for any of these keywords. For example, searching for "workstation" will also return results that match "computer," "pc," etc. Additionally, searching for "pc computer" will also return results that match "workstation," "pc," etc.

When multi-way is set to "OFF," this specifies that the User Search Term(s) will return matches that also match the Synonym(s) but this will not be applied inversely. For example, searching for "jacket" will also return results that match "parka." However, searching for "parka" will not return results that include matches for "jacket."
