Merchandising Visibility Rules

Magento has 4 options for Product Visibility:

  1. “Not Visible Individually”

  2. “Catalog”

  3. “Search”

  4. “Catalog, Search”

 

For better support of Magento’s Catalog visibility logic we need to create a couple of Conditional Visibility rules. Go to Merchandising > Visibility Rules. Create a Conditional rule Hide products with "Search" visibility on Category pages

Select items to hide:

And specify hide trigger:

Create one more rule Hide products with "Catalog" visibility within regular search

Select items to hide:

And specify hide trigger:

Here you go! You can test your search results.
